She enjoyed spending time with her family and would spend hours laughing while playing board games and cards. She was also known to jitterbug or do the Charleston when she heard a good tune. Carol also loved to travel throughout the United States and always made the summer vacations with the family very special. All the tourist traps were favorite stops on the road trips. She was quite adventurous for being a small town girl. Carol and John made their annual trips to Daytona for the NASCAR road race and spent several weeks a year seeing the countryside, visiting friends and family. She collected numerous knickknacks and took many pictures. Carol loved animals and was known to open her door and heart to the many strays who showed up. She served as a past secretary for the Hornell Area Humane Society.
